Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
FreeUp is a mobile app for iPhone and Android, published by Wori, that helps you find and clean clutter in your Gmail inbox. This policy explains what data FreeUp accesses, how it is used, where it is kept, and how you stay in control. It applies to the FreeUp app and to this website, https://freeup.wori.app.
The short version
- The scan runs on your phone. FreeUp has no server that receives your email.
- FreeUp reads email metadata, not message bodies or attachments.
- Emails only move to Gmail Trash when you confirm. FreeUp never deletes email permanently.
- Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties.
Google user data FreeUp accesses
When you sign in with Google and connect Gmail, FreeUp asks for the following permissions. You can decline any of them.
Google Sign-In
Your basic Google profile: name, email address, and profile picture. FreeUp uses them to show which account is connected and to keep each account's data separate on your device.
Read your Gmail messages (gmail.readonly)
Used to scan your mailbox. For each message, FreeUp requests Gmail's metadata format only: the message ID, sender (From), subject, the List-Unsubscribe header, date, size, labels (such as Promotions, Social, Important, or Inbox), and the short preview snippet Gmail provides. FreeUp does not download message bodies or attachments.
Modify your Gmail messages (gmail.modify)
Requested only when you clean up for the first time. It is used to move the messages you select to Gmail Trash, and to move them back if you restore a cleanup from your history. FreeUp does not send email, does not change other labels, and never deletes messages permanently. Gmail empties Trash on its own after 30 days.
How FreeUp uses this data
Google user data is used only to provide the features you see in the app:
- Grouping your mail into cleanup categories and by sender.
- Showing how many emails and how much space each group takes.
- Letting you review messages before a cleanup, and moving the ones you confirm to Trash.
- Keeping a cleanup history on your device so you can restore it.
FreeUp does not use Google user data for advertising, does not sell it, does not use it to determine credit-worthiness or for lending, and does not use it to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine learning models.
Where your data is stored
Everything stays on your device. Requests go directly from the app to Google's Gmail API over an encrypted HTTPS connection. FreeUp does not operate a server that receives, stores, or processes your email.
- Scan results (the metadata listed above) are cached in a local database in the app's cache folder, so the next scan is faster. This folder is excluded from iCloud and Android backups, and your phone may clear it when storage runs low.
- Your sign-in session is kept in your device's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore).
- Your settings and cleanup history (message IDs and counts, so a cleanup can be restored) are stored on your device.
Sharing
FreeUp does not share, transfer, or disclose Google user data to anyone. The only exception would be if required by law, and even then Wori has no copy of your email to disclose, because it never leaves your device and Google.
Limited Use disclosure
FreeUp's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Analytics and advertising
FreeUp contains no advertising. The app does not currently include third-party analytics. If we add privacy-friendly usage analytics in the future, it will never include Gmail data (such as senders, subjects, or message content), and this policy will be updated before that release.
Retention and deletion
You are in control of your data at all times:
- Sign out in the app clears the scan cache and your session from the device.
- Revoke access in the app disconnects FreeUp from your Google account and clears the device.
- You can also revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
- Uninstalling the app removes all of its data from your device.
Because Wori stores none of your data on a server, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. If you have a question, contact us at the address below.
Security
All communication with Google uses HTTPS. Your sign-in session is protected by your operating system's secure storage, and access tokens are issued and managed by Google.
Children
FreeUp is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the app before they take effect.
